CHIC

Luxury Indian Wedding Florist — California

Mandap design, baraat, sangeet, mehndi, haldi, and full multi-day floral production for discerning Indian, South Asian, and fusion couples.

CHIC Flowers designs luxury Indian wedding florals for couples who refuse to choose between cultural authenticity and editorial-grade craftsmanship. Our studio has spent more than a decade building the skills, in-house fabrication, and planner relationships needed to produce three, four, and five-day Indian celebrations at California's most coveted venues — from Meadowood and Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, to the Beverly Hills Hotel and Four Seasons Westlake in Los Angeles, to Ojai Valley Inn, San Ysidro Ranch, and the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe. Every mandap we build, every baraat we line with marigold, and every sangeet stage we drape in orchid and rose is engineered around a single principle: the work should feel deeply rooted in tradition while photographing like a magazine cover.

How we design Indian weddings

An Indian wedding is never a single event — it is a sequence of ceremonies, each with its own visual language, ritual requirements, and emotional register. Our team approaches the week as a single artistic arc. The mehndi palette sets the tone; the haldi layers in golden warmth; the sangeet builds the crescendo; the ceremony itself pulls the story back into reverence; and the reception releases it into celebration. Florals are the through-line. We use color, repeating motifs, and deliberate references between days so that the week feels composed rather than assembled.

CHIC Flowers owns our ceremony structures, aisles, chuppah and mandap frames, runners, and suspension rigging in-house. This matters for Indian weddings specifically because every mandap is different — the four-pillar traditional structure for a North Indian ceremony, the kalyana mandapam setup for a Tamil Brahmin wedding, the open canopy Sikh anand karaj, the fusion round mandap for a Hindu-Christian couple. When the structure is in-house, we can engineer for havan flame clearance, pandit seating, phere circumambulation space, and the specific camera angles your photographer needs. Nothing is bolted on from a rental catalog.

Every project begins with a consultation where we learn your region, your family's expectations, the non-negotiable ritual elements, and the aesthetic direction you want to take. We then build a multi-day design proposal with color stories, palette cards, mandap renderings, and a day-by-day floral schedule. Revisions happen through mood boards and sample arrangements, not static PDFs. By the time we arrive on-site, every flower is accounted for and every installation has been walked through with your planner.

The ceremonies we design

Mandap design is our signature — traditional four-pillar structures dressed in marigold, rose, and tuberose; contemporary round mandaps in orchid and anthurium; open-canopy Sikh palki structures; and fusion styles that blend chuppah and mandap traditions for interfaith couples. Every mandap is engineered for the specific havan and phere requirements of your priest, with ceiling clearance, fire setback, and seating measured against the venue's fire code.

Baraat decor is where the week truly begins. We dress ghodi horses, elephants when available, and the groom's entourage in garlands, pagris, and floral canopies. For baraat processions through hotel lobbies or across resort grounds, we coordinate with dhol players, venue security, and fire permits so the entrance is uninterrupted. Each California luxury venue has its own baraat choreography — hotel porte cochères, estate drives, resort courtyards — and our production approach adapts route, floral structure, and timing to the specific venue's geometry.

Sangeet is a visual performance in itself — a stage, a dance floor, a runway of tablescapes. We build raised floral stages with LED-integrated backdrops, suspended canopies of rose and orchid for choreographed entrances, and tablescape progressions that move from aperitif to dinner to after-party. Mehndi and haldi are our more intimate design moments: layered cushioned seating, floral chandeliers of jasmine and marigold, and photograph-ready vignettes for the bride and her closest circle.

Regional and cultural specializations

We design for every major regional and religious tradition within the Indian and broader South Asian diaspora. Our North Indian work covers Punjabi, Gujarati, Marwari, Rajasthani, and Sindhi weddings — each with its own visual vocabulary around marigold density, phoolon ki chaadar styling, and baraat choreography. Our South Indian work covers Tamil Brahmin (Iyer and Iyengar), Tamil non-Brahmin kalyanam, Telugu pelli, Kannada, Malayali Hindu, Kerala Syrian Christian, and Mangalorean weddings, each with distinct mandap requirements and ceremonial elements.

Sikh anand karaj ceremonies sit in a design category of their own, centered on the Guru Granth Sahib rather than fire, and requiring open, reverent floral framing rather than enclosed structures. Muslim Nikah ceremonies call for elegant arched geometry, generous use of white and soft pastels, and stage design that frames the couple without dominating the space. Jain, Parsi Zoroastrian, Ismaili, and Bohra weddings each bring specific ritual requirements that our team has built up expertise to handle.

Fusion weddings — Hindu-Christian, Hindu-Jewish, Sikh-Christian, Hindu-Muslim, and Indian-American — are one of the fastest-growing segments we design for, and arguably the most technically demanding. A Hindu-Jewish wedding may call for a structure that reads as both mandap and chuppah; a Hindu-Christian ceremony may move from open-air mandap to church altar within a single day. Our in-house fabrication lets us build structures that support both traditions without feeling like a compromise.

Venues we know intimately

California's luxury Indian wedding circuit is concentrated across roughly seventy venues that our team knows at a walkthrough level — we know the ceiling heights, the open-flame policies, the baraat staging areas, the parking constraints, and the nearby hotel blocks for out-of-state family. In Northern California, that includes Meadowood, Auberge du Soleil, Beaulieu Garden, Calistoga Ranch, the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe, Edgewood Tahoe, the Four Seasons San Francisco, and the Lodge at Pebble Beach. On the Central Coast, Ojai Valley Inn, San Ysidro Ranch, the Four Seasons Biltmore, Rosewood Miramar, and Belmond El Encanto.

In Los Angeles and Orange County, Four Seasons Westlake Village, the Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Wilshire, Hotel Bel-Air, the Peninsula Beverly Hills, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Greystone Mansion, the Langham Huntington Pasadena, Fairmont Miramar Santa Monica, Montage Laguna Beach, the Resort at Pelican Hill, Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, and Hummingbird Nest Ranch. In the desert, JW Marriott Desert Springs, La Quinta Resort, Miramonte Indian Wells, and the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage. Each venue has a dedicated page on this site with the specifications your planner will ask for.

Transparency, pricing, and how we work

Indian wedding couples do more research than almost any other segment we serve, and they reward florists who are transparent about what things cost. Our pricing page lays out real range cards for mandap, baraat, sangeet, mehndi, haldi, and reception florals at different guest-count tiers, so you can frame a conversation with your planner before you ever reach out. Multi-day weddings carry production economies that single-day weddings do not — the same team, the same rental infrastructure, and the same design language across days typically reduces per-event cost by 20–35% versus booking five separate vendors.

Our inquiry process begins with a short form submission — your dates, your venue if known, and your ceremony list — and moves quickly to a video consultation. Families in India, planners in California, and photographers across time zones are all coordinated through a mix of video calls, email, and secure shared workspaces throughout design and production.

Frequently asked questions

The questions our Indian wedding couples ask most.

Do you travel for Indian weddings outside of San Diego?+
Yes — we travel throughout California and for select destination weddings in Mexico, Hawaii, and internationally. Our most frequently booked markets outside San Diego are Napa Valley, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Montecito, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, Westlake Village, Ojai, Orange County, and the Coachella Valley. Travel and production logistics are built into every multi-day proposal.
How far in advance do Indian wedding couples book?+
Most of our Indian wedding couples book 10–14 months out, and peak-season dates (November through February around Hindu muhurat calendars) often fill 14–18 months in advance. Sangeet-only or single-event bookings can sometimes be accommodated closer in, but a full multi-day wedding needs meaningful lead time for fabrication, sourcing, and planner coordination.
Can you coordinate with our family's pandit, priest, or officiant?+
Yes. Our team coordinates directly with pandits, Sikh granthi, imams, and multi-tradition officiants on fire clearance, seating, phere pathways, Guru Granth Sahib placement, and any ritual items that need to be integrated into the design. We prefer to have a direct phone conversation with the officiant at least two weeks before the wedding to walk through the setup.
Do you work with Indian wedding planners in California?+
Our planner network includes the leading South Asian and multicultural wedding planners working in California. When you book with us, we can recommend planners who match your cultural tradition, budget tier, and venue. We also work seamlessly with planners you have already hired, including those flying in from India for the event.
What is the realistic budget range for a luxury Indian wedding florist in California?+
Our luxury Indian wedding floral budgets typically run from $60,000 for an intimate two-day celebration up to $400,000+ for a large four-day wedding with elaborate sangeet, mandap, and reception installations at a premier venue. The single biggest driver is guest count and the number of ceremony days. Our pricing page has transparent range cards by guest count and ceremony.
Can you handle open-flame havan ceremonies at California venues?+
Yes, and this is an area we have specific expertise in. Many California venues do not allow open flame; many others allow it with a fire permit, protective flooring, and a fire marshal on premises. Our dedicated resource page lists venues that allow open-flame mandap setups, and we handle fire permit coordination as part of our production scope.
