An Indian wedding is never a single event — it is a sequence of ceremonies, each with its own visual language, ritual requirements, and emotional register. Our team approaches the week as a single artistic arc. The mehndi palette sets the tone; the haldi layers in golden warmth; the sangeet builds the crescendo; the ceremony itself pulls the story back into reverence; and the reception releases it into celebration. Florals are the through-line. We use color, repeating motifs, and deliberate references between days so that the week feels composed rather than assembled.
CHIC Flowers owns our ceremony structures, aisles, chuppah and mandap frames, runners, and suspension rigging in-house. This matters for Indian weddings specifically because every mandap is different — the four-pillar traditional structure for a North Indian ceremony, the kalyana mandapam setup for a Tamil Brahmin wedding, the open canopy Sikh anand karaj, the fusion round mandap for a Hindu-Christian couple. When the structure is in-house, we can engineer for havan flame clearance, pandit seating, phere circumambulation space, and the specific camera angles your photographer needs. Nothing is bolted on from a rental catalog.
Every project begins with a consultation where we learn your region, your family's expectations, the non-negotiable ritual elements, and the aesthetic direction you want to take. We then build a multi-day design proposal with color stories, palette cards, mandap renderings, and a day-by-day floral schedule. Revisions happen through mood boards and sample arrangements, not static PDFs. By the time we arrive on-site, every flower is accounted for and every installation has been walked through with your planner.
Mandap design is our signature — traditional four-pillar structures dressed in marigold, rose, and tuberose; contemporary round mandaps in orchid and anthurium; open-canopy Sikh palki structures; and fusion styles that blend chuppah and mandap traditions for interfaith couples. Every mandap is engineered for the specific havan and phere requirements of your priest, with ceiling clearance, fire setback, and seating measured against the venue's fire code.
Baraat decor is where the week truly begins. We dress ghodi horses, elephants when available, and the groom's entourage in garlands, pagris, and floral canopies. For baraat processions through hotel lobbies or across resort grounds, we coordinate with dhol players, venue security, and fire permits so the entrance is uninterrupted. Each California luxury venue has its own baraat choreography — hotel porte cochères, estate drives, resort courtyards — and our production approach adapts route, floral structure, and timing to the specific venue's geometry.
Sangeet is a visual performance in itself — a stage, a dance floor, a runway of tablescapes. We build raised floral stages with LED-integrated backdrops, suspended canopies of rose and orchid for choreographed entrances, and tablescape progressions that move from aperitif to dinner to after-party. Mehndi and haldi are our more intimate design moments: layered cushioned seating, floral chandeliers of jasmine and marigold, and photograph-ready vignettes for the bride and her closest circle.
We design for every major regional and religious tradition within the Indian and broader South Asian diaspora. Our North Indian work covers Punjabi, Gujarati, Marwari, Rajasthani, and Sindhi weddings — each with its own visual vocabulary around marigold density, phoolon ki chaadar styling, and baraat choreography. Our South Indian work covers Tamil Brahmin (Iyer and Iyengar), Tamil non-Brahmin kalyanam, Telugu pelli, Kannada, Malayali Hindu, Kerala Syrian Christian, and Mangalorean weddings, each with distinct mandap requirements and ceremonial elements.
Sikh anand karaj ceremonies sit in a design category of their own, centered on the Guru Granth Sahib rather than fire, and requiring open, reverent floral framing rather than enclosed structures. Muslim Nikah ceremonies call for elegant arched geometry, generous use of white and soft pastels, and stage design that frames the couple without dominating the space. Jain, Parsi Zoroastrian, Ismaili, and Bohra weddings each bring specific ritual requirements that our team has built up expertise to handle.
Fusion weddings — Hindu-Christian, Hindu-Jewish, Sikh-Christian, Hindu-Muslim, and Indian-American — are one of the fastest-growing segments we design for, and arguably the most technically demanding. A Hindu-Jewish wedding may call for a structure that reads as both mandap and chuppah; a Hindu-Christian ceremony may move from open-air mandap to church altar within a single day. Our in-house fabrication lets us build structures that support both traditions without feeling like a compromise.
