Floral dressing for the elephant baraat — the most dramatic entrance ceremony an Indian wedding can produce.
Elephant baraats are among the rarest and most visually dramatic ceremonial entrances in luxury Indian wedding tradition. California-based elephant handlers operate under strict licensing, and venues that approve elephant baraats are limited — typically private estate properties in Santa Ynez, Hidden Hills, Napa Valley, and select ranch venues. CHIC Flowers designs elephant floral dressing for baraat productions with attention to the animal's comfort, the handler's control, and the dramatic photography potential of this unforgettable ceremony moment.

Elephant floral dressing covers the forehead plate (a decorative panel on the elephant's brow holding dense marigold, rose, and accent floral), trunk garlands (strings of floral woven around the trunk), ear accents (smaller floral clips near the ears), a large howdah seating platform dressed with floral in the wedding palette, and side-body floral panels for photographic visual weight.
Total floral weight for a fully dressed elephant typically runs 35–60 pounds — heavy by any measure, but well within an elephant's tolerance for temporary decoration. Handler coordination on weight distribution, attachment methods, and timing matters significantly.
Elephant baraat booking requires 3–6 months lead time. California has very few licensed elephant handlers, and venue approval is a significant additional layer. Most hotel venues do not approve elephant baraats; most private estates in Santa Ynez, Hidden Hills, Napa Valley, and select ranch properties do approve with advance coordination.
Install timing happens approximately 90 minutes before the baraat procession. The handler brings the elephant to a staging area; our floral team installs dressing in coordinated pieces; the handler completes final attachment and escorts the elephant and groom to the baraat start point.
Weather and temperature affect elephant comfort. Summer outdoor baraats in extreme heat (>95°F) are avoided for the animal's welfare. Morning or late-afternoon timing is typically preferred.
