Pre-ceremony rituals and design implications

Marwari tradition includes several distinct pre-wedding rituals that each carry design requirements. Ganesh Pujan begins the wedding week with a formal Ganesh invocation, often held at the family's home or a suite; our florals here are restrained, centered on the Ganesh murti with traditional marigold garlands and rose accents. Pithi Dastoor is the Marwari variant of haldi, typically held in the morning with the turmeric-and-herb paste applied by family. Mahira is the gift exchange from the bride's mother's family; we design an elegant staged floral installation for the gift presentation moment.

Mehfil is the Marwari counterpart to sangeet, often held across multiple evenings rather than a single night, which shapes how we scale the floral production. Multi-evening mehfils benefit from a core installation that can be refreshed and re-dressed across nights rather than torn down and rebuilt each time.

Mandap design — tradition-forward density

Marwari mandaps favor the traditional four-pillar form with full coverage. Floral density runs at the higher end of our spectrum — twelve to eighteen thousand stems of marigold, rose, tuberose, and jasmine across pillar wrap, canopy, and base coverage. Palettes lean saturated and jewel-toned: crimson, deep orange marigold, fuchsia, gold, with emerald or plum accents.

Agni kund clearance and seating for kanyadaan parents is engineered into every Marwari mandap. Many Marwari families bring pandits from Rajasthan or specialized Marwari lineages, and we coordinate directly with the officiant on ritual setup two weeks before the wedding.

Toran (the decorated doorway garland hung above entrances) is a specific Marwari tradition we design for. A rich toran at the ceremony threshold and at the reception entry references the tradition and creates an arrival moment for guests.

Reception and scale

Marwari reception productions are typically the largest single event in the wedding week, and often the largest weddings we design anywhere in California. Guest counts of six hundred to one thousand are not unusual, which drives venue selection — only a subset of California luxury venues (Four Seasons Westlake, Langham Pasadena, larger Hyatt or Hilton ballrooms, private estates with tent builds) accommodate the scale.

Reception palettes shift slightly richer and more theatrical than the ceremony palette — deeper wine tones, opulent gold, bronze accents — with stage backdrops, ceiling installations, and centerpieces coordinated to read together at scale. Our production team coordinates install across the multi-day sequence so the reception peak lands with full floral freshness despite the days of ceremony preceding it.
