Christmas Decor Installations for Hotels and Luxury Retail

Lobby trees scaled to the ceiling, garlands with a fresh-flower layer, and palettes that go well beyond red and green.

CHIC Flowers designs and installs Christmas and holiday decor for luxury hotels, resorts, and high-end retail in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County: the lobby tree, entrance canopy, garlands and wreaths, staircase and railing florals, and the restaurant and bar dressing that ties a property together for six weeks. We install in mid-November, refresh the fresh elements through December, strike in early January, and store the structures we build for the following year.

The lobby tree

The tree is the decision everything else follows. We scale it to the ceiling and the sightline from the entrance, not to a catalog size, and we choose between a fresh-cut tree and a premium faux tree by how long it has to look perfect and what the property's engineering team can support. A fresh tree is unmatched for scent and presence over three to four weeks; a premium faux tree on an owned frame holds its shape for the full season, carries heavier florals and lighting, and comes back next year.

Dressing is where a hotel tree separates from a department-store one: a fresh-flower layer of amaryllis, orchids, or garden roses over the evergreen, oversized ornaments in a restrained palette, ribbon with real weight, and lighting designed with the property's electrician so the tree reads after dark from the driveway.

Entrance, garlands, and staircases

Beyond the tree we dress the places guests pass through: an evergreen canopy or flanking trees at the porte-cochere, garlands along the front desk and the bar, wreaths at the entrance and on interior doors, and florals wound along staircase railings and mezzanine balustrades. Mantels in the lounge get a fuller, lower composition that reads from a seated height.

Everything is built on armatures we own, so garlands hang on fitted bases rather than being wired to the millwork, and the strike leaves the property exactly as we found it.

Palettes beyond red and green

Luxury properties rarely want the traditional palette at full strength. Winter white and silver suits a modern lobby; champagne, cream, and gold warms a classic one; deep green with burgundy and copper reads rich without reading themed; and jewel tones carry a property that wants color. We set one palette for the whole property and vary the density by space, so the restaurant feels related to the lobby without repeating it.

Timing, refresh, and strike

A hotel holiday install typically goes in during the week before Thanksgiving, overnight and in phases so the lobby stays open. Fresh florals and greenery are refreshed on a schedule through December; dried and high-quality faux elements carry the pieces that must last the full run. Strike follows in the first week of January on the same overnight plan, and the owned structures go into storage ready to be re-dressed next season.

Where the property or the fire marshal requires it, we source fire-retardant-treated greenery and fabrics and coordinate lighting loads with the property's engineering team before anything is installed.

Frequently asked questions

Fresh tree or faux tree for a hotel lobby?+
Fresh gives scent and presence for three to four weeks; a premium faux tree on an owned frame holds for the full season, carries heavier florals and lighting, and returns next year. Many properties use a faux lobby tree with fresh florals layered on and fresh greenery elsewhere.
How long does a Christmas install take?+
A full-property install is usually two to four overnight phases, depending on the number of spaces and the size of the lobby piece. We agree the sequence with your events and engineering teams so the lobby stays open throughout.
Do you refresh the fresh elements during the season?+
Yes. Fresh florals and cut greenery are refreshed on a schedule through December, and the elements that must last six weeks are built with dried and high-quality faux materials.
Who handles fire-retardant treatment?+
We do. Where the property or the fire marshal requires it, we source treated greenery and fabrics and supply the documentation, and we coordinate lighting loads with your engineering team.
What happens to the decor after strike?+
Structures we build are ours, stored and re-dressed the following year, so the second season of a program costs less than the first. Fresh materials are composted and the property is left as we found it.
