Blending the chuppah, the sofreh, and a Persian-style reception.
Jewish-Persian weddings bring together two rich traditions — and in Los Angeles they range from celebrations where both families are Persian Jewish to weddings where one partner is Persian and the other comes from an Ashkenazi or Sephardic family. CHIC Flowers designs these weddings as one celebration: a chuppah, a sofreh aghd, and a reception with the scale and warmth Persian families expect.
Portfolio curation in progress
Cultural wedding imagery is being prepared for this page.
The first decision is how the chuppah and sofreh fit together. Common approaches include a chuppah ceremony with the sofreh set nearby for blessings and photos, a sofreh ceremony held separately before or after the chuppah, or a combined setting where the sofreh sits beneath or in front of the chuppah.
When families come from different backgrounds, this is also where the two traditions meet — the bedeken and ketubah signing from one side, the sofreh rituals from the other. We plan the layout and timing so each moment has its own space.
We carry one palette across the chuppah, sofreh, and reception so the day feels cohesive. White and ivory with gold and crystal is a classic Persian look that also suits a traditional chuppah; blush or jewel tones give it a modern edge.
Mirrors and candlelight — central to the sofreh — also work beautifully on reception tables.
Persian receptions are generous and lively, with large guest counts, a packed dance floor, and abundant tables. We design tall centerpieces and a dramatic head table or sweetheart setting that hold their own in a large ballroom, while keeping sightlines open for toasts and dancing.
