Tradition with room to design.
Reform and Conservative weddings keep the heart of the Jewish ceremony — the chuppah, the ketubah, the seven blessings, the breaking of the glass — with more flexibility in dates, seating, and style. That freedom shows in the design: suspended chuppahs, modern minimal structures, garden ceremonies, and receptions that reflect the couple rather than a fixed template. CHIC Flowers designs Reform and Conservative weddings across Los Angeles and San Diego.
Portfolio curation in progress
Cultural wedding imagery is being prepared for this page.
Reform and many Conservative weddings have mixed seating, a single reception space without a mechitza, and often a rabbi and cantor officiating together. Reform practice allows more flexibility on dates, including some periods traditional practice avoids, and interfaith ceremonies are common in Reform communities. Conservative practice generally keeps traditional date restrictions and a kosher reception.
We follow the couple's and rabbi's lead on all of this; the floral design adapts to whatever the ceremony includes.
Without the preference for an open-sky chuppah, indoor ceremonies with a suspended canopy or a dramatic floral structure are popular. Couples choose everything from a lush garden-style four-post to a sleek acrylic or gold frame with minimal blooms. See our chuppah design and suspended chuppah pages for options.
Many Reform and Conservative couples marry in their synagogue's sanctuary, which has its own guidelines for florals near the bimah. Others choose a hotel, estate, or garden. We confirm the guidelines for the space before designing and plan the reception florals to match.
