The kosha (also spelled kesha or kusha) is the elevated, floral-framed setting where the bride and groom sit during the reception, presiding over the celebration. It is the equivalent role that the mandap plays in an Indian wedding — the visual and ceremonial heart of the room — and it draws every eye and camera.
Because it carries the whole reception's design, the kosha is where the largest share of the floral investment goes.
A kosha combines a backdrop and the couple's seating into one composed setting. The backdrop might be a full floral wall, an arched or draped structure, or a canopy overhead; the seating is often a sofa or throne styled to match. We design the two as a unit so the couple is framed beautifully from every angle in the room.
Scale is critical — a kosha sized for a small room disappears in a grand ballroom, so we build at 12 to 24 feet and taller, proportioned to the ceiling and the sightlines from the farthest tables.
Density is the biggest design and budget decision. A full-flower kosha reads the most opulent and sits at the top of the range; a mixed installation using structure, drape, greenery, and focal florals achieves comparable scale for less. Both can be built to command the room.
We advise on where to concentrate the flowers — often the couple's immediate frame and the canopy — so the kosha photographs richly without every surface being maximal.
The kosha doesn't stand alone. It is the destination of the zaffe entrance and the anchor for the room's centerpieces and lighting. We design the kosha, the zaffe path, and the reception florals together so the couple's entrance flows into their seating and the whole room reads as one look.
Where the venue's rigging allows, we add suspended elements over the kosha for extra drama; where it doesn't, we build height into the structure itself.
