Private Estate Wedding Florist

Tented, full-production floral design for private residences and estates across Southern California.

A private estate wedding starts with a blank canvas — a home, a garden, a lawn — and builds everything else: the tent, the floor, the lighting, the kitchen, and the flowers that make it feel like a wedding. CHIC Flowers is a luxury wedding florist designing full-production florals for private estates and residences from Montecito and Hidden Hills to Beverly Hills, Rancho Santa Fe, and the Orange County coast. This guide covers what an estate wedding asks of its florist, how we design for tents and gardens, and how access and scale shape the plan.

The blank-canvas advantage

With no ballroom and no house décor to work around, an estate wedding gives the design total freedom — the palette, the scale, and the style are entirely the couple's. The house and grounds become the backdrop, and the flowers carry more of the atmosphere than they would in a finished venue.

That freedom is also the responsibility: at an estate, the flowers, lighting, and tent together are the room. We design them as one with the planner, lighting designer, and tent company from the first site walk.

Designing the tent

The tent ceiling is the signature of an estate reception. Greenery and floral installations woven with chandeliers and string lighting, wrapped tent poles, a floral-framed entrance, and perimeter arrangements turn a frame, sailcloth, or clear-top tent into a designed interior.

Each tent type behaves differently — clear-tops trap heat and sun during the day, sailcloth diffuses light beautifully — so we choose blooms and install timing to suit, and coordinate rigging points and weight with the tent and lighting vendors.

The garden ceremony

An estate's own landscape is the starting point. We augment existing hedges, borders, and trees with blooms rather than hiding them, design an aisle through the lawn or garden, and build the ceremony focal point — an arch, a floral meadow, or urns — to frame the house, the view, or the pool.

Structures are weighted and engineered for the site, and florals are installed as late as the schedule allows so they are fresh for the ceremony.

Access, timing, and the build

Estate logistics are the real difference from a venue: residential driveways, hillside roads, limited parking and staging, neighbors, and no in-house refrigeration or loading dock. Larger productions become multi-day builds, with floral installation sequenced after the tent, floor, and lighting are in.

We plan crew size, on-site refrigeration, early load-in, and a clean strike with the planner and the estate manager, and we work within whatever rules the property and the planner's permits set.

From our portfolio: estates we have designed

At a private residence in Rancho Santa Fe, an intimate guest count allowed every element to be bespoke, from a show-stopping ceremony installation to personalized place settings. At Grand Traditions Estate in Fallbrook, surrounded by rolling hills and mature gardens, the ceremony arch overflowed with garden roses, hydrangeas, and trailing greenery, and the reception centerpieces brought the estate's gardens inside with seasonal blooms and organic textures.

At Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills — one of the most iconic historic estates in Los Angeles — the design was opulent and editorial to match the house: a towering ceremony arch in deep burgundy, ivory, and gold against the stone architecture, and tall centerpieces of roses, hydrangeas, and cascading amaranthus in the great hall for a wedding that drew guests from across the country.

Scale and budget

Because the flowers define the space, estate weddings usually sit in the high-luxury to ultra-luxury ranges of our budget guide — from around $50,000 to $150,000 and beyond for a full estate transformation with a designed tent ceiling, garden ceremony, and complete tablescapes.

Where to invest: the tent ceiling, the ceremony focal point, and the tables guests sit at all night. Our centerpiece cost guide covers the per-table ranges that make up the largest share of the reception.

Styles that suit an estate

English garden and coastal designs are the most natural fits for an outdoor estate, all-white is timeless under a tent, and a modern estate can carry a sculptural, minimal palette. The setting decides the style; the production makes it possible.

Frequently asked questions

What does a florist do differently at a private estate wedding?+
At an estate there is no ballroom, so the flowers, tent, and lighting together become the room. We design them as one with the planner, tent, and lighting teams, and we manage logistics a venue would normally provide — refrigeration, staging, multi-day load-in, and residential access.
Do you design tent ceiling installations?+
Yes. Greenery and floral ceiling installations woven with chandeliers and lighting, wrapped tent poles, and floral entrances are the signature of an estate reception. We coordinate rigging points and weight with the tent and lighting vendors from the first site walk.
How early do you need access to the property?+
It depends on scale. A full tented production is typically a multi-day build, with florals installed after the tent, floor, and lighting are in; a garden ceremony and tablescapes can install the day before or the morning of. We set the sequence with the planner and estate manager.
How much do private estate wedding flowers cost?+
Usually $50,000 to $150,000 and beyond, because the flowers define the space rather than accent it. A designed tent ceiling, the ceremony focal point, and complete tablescapes are the main investments; our budget guide breaks the ranges down.
Can you work with the estate's existing gardens?+
That is the best starting point. We augment existing hedges, borders, and trees with blooms, run the aisle through the lawn or garden, and build the ceremony focal point to frame the house, the view, or the pool rather than hide them.
