The Wedding Story
Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills is one of the most iconic historic estates in Los Angeles — a 55-room Tudor Revival mansion with formal English gardens that has served as a backdrop for countless films and editorial shoots. This venue demands floral design that matches its grandeur and cinematic quality.
CHIC Flowers designed opulent, editorial-style arrangements befitting this legendary estate. The formal garden ceremony featured a towering floral arch in deep burgundy, ivory, and gold that complemented the mansion's stone architecture. Reception tables in the great hall showcased dramatic tall centerpieces with hundreds of roses, hydrangeas, and cascading amaranthus.
This was a true destination wedding experience — couples traveled from across the country to celebrate at this iconic venue, and CHIC Flowers' design was the centerpiece of the editorial coverage that followed.
Why this venue is unique
Greystone Mansion is a 55-room Tudor Revival estate completed in 1928, now a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It's also one of the most film-shot estates in Hollywood — The Big Lebowski, There Will Be Blood, and dozens of editorials have used its grounds. That cinematic DNA creates specific expectations: couples booking Greystone aren't looking for a 'pretty wedding,' they're producing an editorial-grade event. Our florals have to read as scenography.
Floral challenges we solved
Greystone is a protected historic property, so every design decision has to pass the city's preservation standards. We can't attach anything to the exterior stonework, can't use open flame inside the mansion, and can't drag hardware across the original imported Spanish tile. Every installation piece had to be freestanding, weight-distributed on soft rubber feet, and assembled on-site rather than delivered pre-built. Logistically it's closer to a film set build than a typical wedding install.
Our design approach
We chose a deep burgundy, ivory, and gold palette specifically to echo the estate's Tudor-Gothic architecture — the burgundy pulls directly from the stained-glass interior, the gold from the brass fittings, and the ivory creates the contrast Tudor interiors need to read in photography. The towering ceremony arch was intentionally oversized (nearly 11 feet tall) because anything smaller disappears against the mansion's 14-foot stone doorframes. Every centerpiece was scaled for the great hall's proportions, not a typical reception ceiling.
