Armenian Reception Stage & Sweetheart Design

The couple's stage is the visual center of the night — we design it to command the room.

The couple's stage is the visual center of an Armenian reception. CHIC Flowers designs sweetheart stages and head-table backdrops — floral walls, suspended installations, and gold-and-crystal framing — scaled for grand ballrooms and 300-plus-guest celebrations. In venues like Brandview Ballroom, Taglyan Complex, and Castaway, the stage has to fill a large, high-ceilinged room and still read intimate for the couple seated beneath it.

The sweetheart stage as focal point

Armenian receptions are built around the couple's stage. Guests, photographers, and the evening's key moments all orient toward it, so it carries the design. We build the stage as the room's anchor — a backdrop or wall behind the couple's seating, framed and lit so it holds attention across a large ballroom.

Scale is everything. A backdrop sized for an intimate room disappears in a 400-guest ballroom, so we design stage pieces at 10 to 20 feet and taller, proportioned to the ceiling height and the sightlines from the farthest tables.

Floral walls and backdrops

Full floral walls, mixed floral-and-greenery backdrops, and structured arches are all popular stage treatments. Density is a design and budget decision: a full-flower wall reads lush and opulent but costs considerably more than a mixed backdrop that uses greenery and structure to achieve scale with fewer stems.

We coordinate the stage palette with the centerpieces, the lighting design, and any LED or video-wall elements the couple has planned, so the whole room reads as one cohesive look.

Suspended and overhead installations

Where the venue's rigging allows, suspended florals over the stage or dance floor add drama that a backdrop alone can't. Feasibility depends entirely on the room — ceiling height, rigging points, and weight limits — so we confirm what each venue permits before designing overhead work.

Taglyan Complex and similar grand ballrooms are built for this kind of installation; smaller banquet rooms may not support the same weight, in which case we achieve height with floor-based structures instead.

Coordinating with centerpieces and lighting

The stage doesn't stand alone — it works with the tall gold-and-crystal centerpieces on the guest tables and the room's lighting. We design the whole reception floral program together so the stage is the crescendo of a cohesive look rather than an isolated feature.

Where it makes sense, we also repurpose ceremony florals from the church into the stage or its surrounds, stretching the floral budget across both parts of the day.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a stage and a sweetheart table?+
A sweetheart table seats just the couple; an Armenian reception 'stage' is the elevated, floral-framed setting the couple's table sits within — a backdrop or wall behind them that becomes the room's focal point. We design the full stage, not just the table.
How much does a floral wall or backdrop cost?+
It depends on scale and density. A full-flower wall reads the most opulent and sits at the top of the range, while a mixed floral-and-greenery backdrop achieves similar scale for less. Our cost guide gives typical stage and backdrop ranges.
Can you hang a suspended installation over the stage?+
Where the venue's rigging allows. Feasibility depends on ceiling height, rigging points, and weight limits, which we confirm with each venue. Where suspension isn't possible, we build height with floor-based structures instead.
Can you reuse the church flowers on the reception stage?+
Often, yes. We plan the larger ceremony pieces so they can be repurposed into the stage or its surrounds, which stretches the floral budget across both the church and the reception.
