Designing with the view

At Castaway the view is part of the design. Rather than blocking the windows and terraces with tall backdrops, we frame them — placing the sweetheart stage so the valley lights sit behind the couple and keeping the arrangements along the glass low enough to leave the horizon open.

Palettes that work well here shift with the light: whites and blush that glow at sunset, with gold accents and candlelight that take over after dark.

Outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hour

Some couples hold a civil or second ceremony, or the cocktail hour, on Castaway's outdoor spaces after the church. Hilltop sites can be breezy in the late afternoon, so we weight arches and aisle arrangements and choose sturdy blooms that hold up outdoors.

We also plan an indoor alternative with the venue in case of weather.

Sweetheart stage and centerpieces

Armenian receptions at Castaway still call for a strong focal point. We build the sweetheart stage with a floral backdrop scaled to the room and set the centerpiece mix — tall gold-and-crystal designs and lower arrangements — so the room feels abundant without blocking the view.

From St. Leon to Castaway

Castaway is a short drive from St. Leon Armenian Cathedral in Burbank, which makes it a natural pairing. We install the cathedral first, then move suitable pieces up the hill, working within Castaway's load-in schedule and the road access to the hilltop.
